Goa Rugby
Goa Rugby Union
Veritaz believes in boosting diverse and different sports in a land that worships cricket. Rugby is a popular sport from England that scored a touchdown in Goa as Goa Rugby Union, sponsored by Veritaz, in February 2015. The union has ever since played Touch Rugby and Rugby Sevens against various teams and have managed to involve boys, girls, men & women in this challenging sport.
The Goa Rugby Union is the coming together of four club franchises:
- Crazy Pirates (North Goa)
- CrocoTRYles (South Goa)
- Saints (East Goa)
- TRYmates (West Goa)
The clubs are run by a central Goa club, the Black Claws, Claws or, simply, Team Goa. The Claws filters 300 to 500 Rugby players from a pool of almost 10000 Rugby enthusiasts and later selects a National Team for Rugby Nationals.
Along with certified coaches and referees, each club nurtures and trains players in the Under 11, Under 14, Under 17 and Senior categories from June 1st till December 31st while January and May are blocked for pre and post season reviews.
Three leagues are hosted each year:
- Super Heroes Rugby
- Halloween Rugby
- Christmas Rugby
The leagues are a platform for Rugby players to outshine their competitors and get a chance to play for five to eight Nationals per year.
Goa Rugby has successfully completed four years under the campaigns #GoaAmche1 2014, #GoaAmche2 2015, #GoaAmche3 2016, #GoaAmche4 2017 and recently launched the fifth #GoaAmche5 2018.
